Sergei Grinkov was a renowned Russian pair skater, born on February 4, 1967, in Moscow, Russia. He is best known for his extraordinary partnership with Ekaterina Gordeeva, with whom he achieved significant success in the world of figure skating. Grinkov started skating at a young age and was paired with Gordeeva by the Soviet sports authorities when they were both young teenagers.
Grinkov and Gordeeva are celebrated for their fluidity and artistry on the ice, which, combined with their technical skills, made them one of the most successful pairs in figure skating history. Together, they won four World Championships (1986, 1987, 1989, and 1990) and two Olympic gold medals, at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary and the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer.
